If you're in the mood for a romantic, engaging family saga about two generations of women, this is it. A SECOND LEGACY follows Alexia Langly and her infant daughter, Carly, to Scotland in the 1960s to restore a crumbling ancestral home--and meet the man of her dreams. Part Two follows the grown Carly through her own adventures in London and Afghanistan in the 1980s. Both parts of the book are full of Trollope's signatures--sympathetic characters, complex plotting, insightful social commentary, and quotidian settings made interesting. Parts One and Two are narrated separately, a technique that works perfectly for the story. The two women have significantly different personalities, made more evident by using two narrators. Both Virginia Leishman and Emily Gray have engaging voices that add color to the story. This is a delightful listen that will keep you rapt and smiling. A.C.S. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine
